Statement of Purpose

We, as military veterans, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace. To this end we will work, with others both nationally and internationally.

To increase public awareness of the causes and costs of war.

To restrain our governments from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations.

To end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons.

To seek justice for veterans and victims of war.

To abolish war as an instrument of national policy.

To achieve these goals, members of Veterans For Peace pledge to use non-violent means and to maintain an organization that is both democratic and open with the understanding that all members are trusted to act in the best interests of the group for the larger purpose of world peace.

From the VFP Website: End U.S. Complicity in Saudi Arabia’s War and Blockade on Yemen

We now have a historic opportunity to end U.S. complicity in the devastation of Yemen. A bipartisan Yemen War Powers Resolution (H.J.Res. 87) has been introduced in the House!

We must use this momentum to withdraw all U.S. military support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen.
With critical assistance from the United States, the Saudi-led coalition’s war and blockade in Yemen have helped create the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, pushing more than 16 million people to the brink of famine. 

Momentum for peace is building, but passage of this resolution is not guaranteed. Your voice is needed: Urge your members of Congress to cosponsor and vote for the Yemen War Powers Resolution.
