Statement of Purpose

We, as military veterans, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace. To this end we will work, with others both nationally and internationally.

To increase public awareness of the causes and costs of war.

To restrain our governments from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations.

To end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons.

To seek justice for veterans and victims of war.

To abolish war as an instrument of national policy.

To achieve these goals, members of Veterans For Peace pledge to use non-violent means and to maintain an organization that is both democratic and open with the understanding that all members are trusted to act in the best interests of the group for the larger purpose of world peace.

New Years Day vigil

Bob is tooting his horn to wish everyone peace and Happy New Year!

Rather a cold and rainy day here in Asheville, but some members of Veterans for Peace still came to the vigil - the first one of the year. Still keeping a presence in downtown after all these years. Still pushing for peace, too.

Weekly/Monthly Chapter Events

Weekly Vigil Stand for Peace at Pack Square
Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm. Join us in a year-round tradition (rain or shine, snow, cold or heat) that's been going on uninterrupted since before the US invaded Iraq.

Chapter Meeting The Third Tuesday of each month from 6:00PM to no later than 7:00PM. Held at Land of the Sky United Church of Christ, 15 Overbrook Place, Asheville 28803. Please call to confirm the meeting as scheduled, for detailed directions and to just let us know to expect you.
